Divine Earth Reiki

History of Reiki

Reiki (ray-key) is the Japanese name for the natural flow of life-force energy that is always here; the universal healing energy of life.

This energy is the Oneness of life. It is the heartbeat and the pulse that creates, and is, the aliveness of life.

Over the centuries the Reiki energy has been used for healing, by the laying on of hands. The energy is channelled through the body with the clear and specific intent to heal. Healing through touch in this way has been known throughout the course of human life, and has been used in all cultures. This energy healing is known here as Reiki, but it is known by different names in different places.

The origin of Reiki, as it is taught today, begins with Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese gentleman who lived in the late 1800's and died in 1926. After many years of study and spiritual meditation Dr Usui experienced a spiritual awakening, or spiritual transmission, that resulted in the creation of the system of healing that is called Usui Shiki Ryoho; the Usui System of Reiki Healing.

Since the time of Dr Usui, Reiki has been passed from generation to generation and different streams of Reiki have evolved.

Divine Earth Reiki™

The power of Divine Earth Reiki™ comes from a foundation of 5 different streams of Reiki. These streams are Usui Shiki Ryoho, Tibetan, Sai Baba, Shamballa, and Seichem. In Julie Sarah Powell (Reiki Master Teacher) these 5 streams had a chance to marinate together for 8 years, and with the addition of the enlightened teachings of Elysha, Julie was given a spiritual transmission and a powerful new stream of Reiki. This new energy could have been called by any name, but with Julie's history it was natural for it to be aligned with Reiki in this way.

A year earlier than the evolution of Divine Earth Reiki™, Julie was given a teaching. This teaching follows on from her teacher Elysha, and it beautifully compliments and deepens the Reiki attunements.

Divine Earth Reiki™ is an amalgamation of these 5 streams, with the new twist of deep understanding it makes a 6th stream.
